WOW! This amazing statue is of the Maryland Terrapins mascot. It's about 5" tall. It is clean with strong paint throughout. It would have to grade near mint. The company name is emblazoned under one foot. It is one of the rarest of all the Carter-Hoffman statues.
The Maryland nickname was coined in 1932 by university president Dr. Harry C. "Curly" Byrd after the diamondback terrapins endemic to the Chesapeake Bay region. The school mascot is an anthropomorphic turtle named "Testudo". The official team colors are red, white, black, and gold, derived from the Maryland state flag.
