If as the saying goes, "Imitation is the highest form of flattery", then L.L. Rittgers would have been proud of this obvious knock-off of his famous 3 piece baseball set. This set and the following 5 lots were made circa the 50's in Japan. They are cross-over collectibles that will appeal to collectors of sports memorabilia, Black memorablia and Rittgers.

This set copies Rittgers theme of the umpire and arguing players. These politically incorrect Black figures show the insensitivity of the times. The black figures are portrayed with coarse hair and big lips. They are a ceramic composition with just beautiful coloring. The tallest figure is about 6" tall.
