This magnificent daily artwork is dated May 13, 1969. It was done by famed Boston Globe cartoonist Phil Bissell*. It measures 8" x 20.25" and is titled "Low- The Poor Injun!" . It shows the Eastren Division of the American League in totum pole fashion according to the standings. The Cleveland Indians are on the bottom being crushed by the other teams. It is a humorous look at how the teams were doing. The Yankees mascot is holding a pennant which reads "We Miss The Mick" and obvious cry about the retirement of Mickey Mantle. It is signed on the top by Bissell. Overall it is in excellent plus condition and would look great framed.

*Phil Bissell's  first sports cartoon was published when he was fourteen.  After going to Boston School of Practical Arts, he did a stint in the army.  He then became an office boy for the Christian Science Monitor, soon graduating to be their sports cartoonist.  He was sports cartoonist for the Boston Herald and Boston Globe (1953-65)He designed the official logo of the Boston Patriots.  His cartoon art is on display in the halls of fame for baseball, football, basketball, and hockey.
