ITPC WINTER 2009 SPORTS MEMORABILIA AUCTION
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/14/2009
We are honored to have entered into an agreement to auction a number of works from famed sports artist Fred Kail's personal collection. This set of 4 down-lineman represent the starting defensive line of the 1958 World Champion Baltimore Colts. In December of 2008, the NFL celebrated the 50th Anniversary of that year's Championship game which is commonly referred to as "The Greatest Game Ever Played". That name may be disputed, but there is almost universal agreement that this game launched the NFL into the national spotlight.
These statues are more recent castings. They represent Colt players #89 Gino Marchetti (HOF), #70 Art Donovan (HOF), #76 Gene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb and #83 Don Joyce. As was the case of the 1958 Title game, each statue shows the players wearing their white road uniforms. Each statue measures 3.25" (w) x 4" (h) x 4.5" (l) and are attached to a solid white base. They are all separate pieces that can be displayed together to simulate the defensive line. All are signed by Fred Kail on the bottom of the base. They are beautifully detailed with helmet logos, face-mask and chin straps and even pads on the hands. They are in mint condition and will make a great addition to any figural collection.
