ITPC FALL 2013 SPORTS MEMORABILIA AUCTION - 300 LOTS
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/5/2013
A perfect game in baseball is extremely rare. Over the 135 years of Major League Baseball history, and well over 300,000 games played, there have been only 23 official perfect games by current definition. No pitcher has ever thrown more than one. The perfect game thrown by Don Larsen in game 5 of the 1956 World Series is the only postseason perfect game in major league history and one of only two postseason no-hitters. This plate was issued shortly after Larsen threw his legendary game in 1956. It shows a drawing of Larsen throwing a pitch with the old Yankee Stadium in the background. The bottom portion of the plate shows the box score of the game. The plate measures 10" in diameter and has no chips, cracks or crazing. A "perfect" addition for any baseball collector or Yankee fan.
