ITPC SUMMER 2008 EXTRAVAGANZA AUCTION
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 8/23/2008
This has to be one of the most innovative and impressive statues of the Gibbs-Conner baseball series. It was made to honor the Cleveland Indians and their special season of 1954 (111 regular season wins). It shows their mascot Chief Wahoo in a hot air balloon heading for the 1954 World Series. It declares them as American League Champs. Unfortunately, the Indians were defeated in 4 games by the Giants in that series. This statue is magnifiecnt and stands about 10.5" tall. It is brightly colored and features embossed lettering on the balloon (shaped like a baseball) and the basket. The base is in the shape of a half globe of the world. There is a light hairline crack on the balloon that does not affect its appearance greatly. This is a must have piece for any fan of the "Tribe".
