ITPC 2020 NEW YEAR AUCTION - 400 LOTS - CLOSES 1/24/20
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 1/25/2020
1950s Chicago White Sox "winged sock" bank is one of the more dynamic pieces. Offered here is a potentially unique example of the White Sox bank in desktop lamp form. The standard issue Sox bank stands on a round base and has a coin slot on top. This unique lamp version has a triangular base that is molded upwards into a round pedestal section and the winged sock has a closed top impressed with the word "Sox" where the coin slot would be on the bank version. A light bulb receptacle opening is located between the sock and the wing and has been tested to be in working order. Serving as the lampshade is a later date White Sox plastic helmet which sits atop a brass extension. A crack across the base and toe of the sock indicates a repair and the green base also has a 1/4" chip. Despite these conditions, this vintage piece remains broadly appealing.
