ITPC SPRING 2017 SPORTS MEMORABILIA AUCTION ENDS MARCH 17
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/18/2017
Jackie Robinson changed America”! Jackie’s sudden impact on the game instantly made him a hero for many avid young baseball fans, and the Fawcett Publication Company in 1950 decided to promote this highly idolized legend. Considering that a young boy’s two great passions were baseball and comic books, the prestigious publication company decided to issue Jackie Robinson’s “True Life Story” in a comic book issue released in May, 1950. While the initial plan was to distribute only the single issue, its overwhelming success prompted Fawcett Publications to issue five different Robinson comics over the next two years. This explains why the initial issue does not exhibit a #1 designation with the remaining 5 publications all numbered from 2 thru 6. The comic is in very good condition with some chipping on the cover edges and a light complamentary stamp on the upper right. A comic book thats hard to find in any condition.
