This fantastic statue set was part of a series of comical chalk ware figurines issued by the L.L. Rittgers Company from the late 30's through 50's. It's a batter and catcher and as with all the Rittgers statues- they are comical. The batter has inadvertently smacked the catcher with his bat. The look on the face of the catcher is "priceless." The statues are dated 1946 on the feet. We are including an unmarked umpire (chalk ware) as it seems to fit with this set. The umpire does have scattered paint loss and nicks but still displays nicely. This set would make a great addition to any collection.
